About

Mark Maier is a bit of a clever clogs. Having found his way to the top of one profession, advertising, he decided to try and dominate another in the world of stand-up comedy.
Before pursuing his lifelong dream to become a comedian, Mark Maier had written and performed in numerous radio commercials – the lifeblood of American broadcasting And a long way from Sheila’s Wheels - and won a whole host of writing awards, including the impressive sounding World's Best Broadcasting Advertisement at the 1987 Hollywood Radio & Television Awards.

Such a start clearly stood him in good stead and Comedian Mark Maier continues to be in demand for voice over work, thanks especially to an extensive range of regional and international accents, including his natural one of Jewish Geordie. You will have heard Mark’s voice on everything from South Park to Aardman’s Burger King commercials. Well, a guy’s gotta eat.

Since turning to comedy, Mark Maier has proved himself equally successful in more than one field, gaining fans and plaudits for his stand-up, his writing and his broadcasting and performance work. A master of the ad lib and improvisation, having learned the art in America, he runs master classes in improvisational comedy in London and regularly appears with the likes of Josie Lawrence, Jim Sweeney and Paul Merton in the famous Comedy Players. He also founded the critically acclaimed group MadLib which performed at the Edinburgh Festival as long ago as 1994 and is still with us today.
